Conditions We Treat
Heel Pain & Plantar Fasciitis Treatment in South-Central Texas
Sharp pain on your first steps in the morning, a bruised feeling at the bottom of the heel, or pain that builds through the day are the classic signs of plantar fasciitis. Our surgeons diagnose the cause — plantar fasciitis, a heel spur, or another source of heel pain — and build a treatment plan that starts conservative and escalates only if it needs to.

Treatment Options
Non-Surgical Care
Stretching protocols, custom orthotics, night splints, and shockwave therapy (ESWT) resolve most plantar fasciitis without surgery.
Surgical Care
For recalcitrant pain that hasn't responded to conservative treatment, a plantar fascia release performed by one of our board-certified surgeons may be recommended.
Patient Questions
Why does my heel hurt worst getting out of bed?
The plantar fascia tightens overnight, so those first steps stretch it suddenly and can cause sharp pain. It's one of the most recognizable signs of plantar fasciitis and helps guide our diagnosis.
How long does plantar fasciitis take to heal without surgery?
Most patients see meaningful improvement within a few months of consistent stretching, orthotics, and other conservative care, though timelines vary by how long symptoms have been present.
What works if stretching doesn't fix heel pain?
If stretching alone isn't enough, we often add custom orthotics, night splints, or shockwave therapy before considering surgery.
Are cortisone shots for heel pain permanent?
Cortisone injections can provide meaningful relief, but they address symptoms rather than the underlying mechanics, so relief may be temporary. We'll discuss where an injection fits in your overall plan.
